On September 26th, 2024, the IELC attended the unveiling of the Civil Rights Institute of Inland Southern California’s “Homegrown Heroes” exhibit. The Civil Rights Institute describes the exhibit on their website as:
“Homegrown Heroes is an exhibition exploring how we advance civil rights in our region. Visit the exhibition to learn from the experiences of some of Inland Southern California’s many civil rights leaders.”
The Labor Council is happy to see another effort at outlining the great contributions to local and national history made by residents of the Inland Empire. The exhibit was supremely well done, with different forms of media incorporated into it. We were delighted to see select incorporations of organized labor, seeing some old United Farmworkers campaign signs and even the highlighting of some of our 2024 General Election endorsed candidates.
