The latest installation of the ongoing Labor of Love project was published on Monday, October 28th. This virtual installation is made up of three different digitized film reels and two discussion guides from the AFL-CIO, all dating back to the 1970s.

There are three films in total, “Right Wing Machine,” “Fight for my Union? Damn Right I Would…,” and “Words from a True Friend of Workers and Their Unions.” To quote from the Labor of Love: Reels webpage,

“When looking through our archives, we found three different 16 mm film reels from the AFL-CIO, each with a different topic central to organized labor. A single unifying theme among them is the importance of union members being active within politics, as they’re produced by the national Committee on Political Education.”

In line with the season, one of these films, “Right Wing Machine” describes itself as a “horror film.” This is due to its topic centering on the anti-labor and anti-working-class attack that has been ongoing since the 70s. That onslaught is described as profoundly political, and made the Labor Council reflect on the continued importance of our political engagement. Of course, one cannot speak of our political engagement without mentioning our newest voter guide: COPE 2024 Voter Guide
