Statement from the Inland Empire Labor Council/Institute

The Inland Empire Labor Council and the Inland Empire Labor Institute condemn the extreme violence against our communities perpetrated by ICE across Southern California and the United States.

Whether it’s the recently detained jornaleros in Pomona, the 14 Indigenous/Zapotec workers brutally taken from LA’s Fashion District, parents at graduations, or our recently released brother David Huerta – President of SEIU California and SEIU-USWW – we stand with all those targeted by these acts of terror, especially the undocumented and migrant communities.

These raids are not just an attack on the labor movement and our families, but an attack on everyday working-class people. We must stand united and fully embody the spirit of that sacred phrase,

“An injury to one is an injury to all.”

We call on our elected representatives to condemn these acts of brutality and halt collaboration with federal efforts to terrorize our communities. We echo the demands of our communities, to end ICE raids immediately.

We call on all community members to donate to fundraisers for detained workers, such as bit.ly/jornalerosdonate.  Report if you witness any ICE activity in your area by contacting the Rapid Response Hotlines (below).

Statement on Democratic Sen. Alex Padilla being forcibly removed from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s news conference.

Thursday, June 12, 2025

As Labor in the Inland Empire we don’t condone the violence the Trump administration is committing against Americans on US soil. The unjustified actions taken against US Senator Alex Padilla were simply because he asked a question that holds this administration accountable. We stand with our Senator Alex Padilla.
