On October 22nd, the IELC participated in the UC Riverside Library’s annual archives fair. We were honored to showcase local history by displaying our ongoing project, Labor of Love: Our Power is our People.
Students, professors, and community members came and learned about labor leaders from our region. We also shared out resources about worker’s rights, and promoted unionism in all of its forms.
The Inland Empire Labor & Community Center team also stopped by the exhibit and spoke with students about the Labor Summer program. Cheylynda Barnard even took a photo with her own panel!

With the younger generations being the most sympathetic to unions, this type of outreach is essential for ensuring that students can connect with labor in a real way. By hearing from union members, students know that unionizing is not just a worthy fight, but a winnable one.
