Congratulations!
We would like to congratulate, DeJonaé Shaw as she steps into her new role as Inland Empire Labor Council, AFL-CIO President.
During April’s delegate meeting, a special election was held to to fill the sudden vacancy. Sister DeJonaé Shaw was nominated, elected, and sworn all in the same night making her the first Black woman elected to this position in our Council’s 147 year history.
DeJonaé is a Kaiser Permanente Nurse by day, represented by United SteelWorkers (USW) 7600, District 12. She maintains high involvement in her union as part of the Rapid Response & Legislative Action committee. Additionally, she has been an active delegate of the Inland Empire Labor Council since 2018, representing her union in the local labor movement for the last 8 years.
A warm congratulations to our sister, I look forward to her leadership and service as we work together to move the Inland Empire forward.
In Solidarity,
Ricardo Cisneros
