The Bill Perez Scholarship Fund

In 2024, we awarded our first round of Bill Perez Scholarships during inaugural event in partnership with UCR’s Inland Empire Labor & Community Center. The scholarship honors 47 years of dedicated service in the IE labor movement from Riverside local, Bill Perez, who is now retired and thriving!

The Bill Perez Scholarship is a yearly opportunity for UCR undergraduate students to receive a scholarship in recognition of their passion for justice in the workplace and beyond. Scholarship details can be found at the IELCC Website.

Bill Perez

The scholarship is dedicated to Bill Perez, who gave 47 years of service in the Inland Empire labor movement. Bill retired on July 29, 2022. We honor his dedication to advocating to uplift working families in our region. Watch Bill Perez’s Labor of Love profile here.

Labor Summer Fellowship

Established in 2022 and hosted by the UCR Inland Empire Labor & Community Center, the Labor Summer Fellowship is an annual program that brings together emerging leaders, labor unions, and community organizations who share a vision for worker justice and labor rights. Student participants are matched with a host organization for an 8-week paid internship to engage in local campaigns that advance worker, racial, immigrant, and other social justice initiatives.
